From Berkeley Public Works About Sewer Project

Good Morning,

My name is Alex Kelser and I am a surveyor with the City of Berkeley.  I was one of the two folks who were working on Panoramic Way in November / December 2010, in fact, I am the one responsible for that work.  Our part of the Panoramic Way sanitary project is to provide the survey control framework for the project – we set the coordinate framework for all projects.  You may have noticed Pink and/or yellow marks on the ground that surround the control points we found or set. Once we have defined the framework (a job that takes a few days) the City of Berkeley then uses consultant surveyors to perform the very time consuming work (a number of weeks – sometimes months) of making the actual survey observations. This project, the Panoramic Way sanitary rehabilitation project, represents one of the more difficult projects a public works department can undertake given the topography and relative width and grade of the access streets. I know we are
committed to disrupting the normal ebb and flow of life for residents in this area as little as humanly possible as we go forward with this work but that is not always as easy as it sounds.  Don’t hesitate to contact us with questions or comments regarding this goal or regarding the work associated with this project.

I hope this helps. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.

Thank you, Alex Kelser – California L.S. 8685
