Humane Approach to Mountain Lions in Area

Panoramic Hill is surrounded on three sides by natural areas.  Located on the edge of an ecological corridor that includes Claremont Canyon and Hamilton Gulch to the south, Strawberry Canyon to the north, and Tilden Regional Park to the east, Panoramic Hill is also the headwaters of Derby Creek.  These natural amenities are an attraction for all manner of creatures, including mountain lions.

Speaking of which…our neighbors over at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory have developed a humane approach towards peacefully coexisting with mountain lions.  While mindful of public safety, they have been educated to be calm and to remember that the mountain lions are mainly focused on hunting deer.

KGO picked up the LBNL/mountain lion story which can be found here.
